Will Liverpool lose its big four tag

November 23, 2009
By

Liverpool and Man City hopes of rejuvenating their title campaigns ended on a sad note when they shared the spoils at Anfield. A two all draw is not what Rafael Benitez or Mark Hughes certainly hoped to achieve after ninety of play. The match that could have easily been won by any side, were it not for the defensive lapses that were contributed by both defenses. When the freshness of a season ends and a team is not able to replicate the remarkable performance it had the previous season then it calls for an urgent measure. It’s now a...

Chelsea boss Ancelotti claims English more sporting than Italians

Chelsea boss Carlo Ancelotti is critical of his countryman in an interview in La Gazzetta dello Sport, for not being as sporting as the English. And then there’s the fans who here go to a game to be entertained and not to get angry with the referee or the opponents. “It’s more sporting, it’s a different culture. Here there’s more of...

November 19, 2009
By

Switzerland was proclaimed World champion U-17 over Nigeria in Abuja on Sunday, after beating the hosts 1-0. This victory means Switzerland’s first world soccer crown at any age level, not to mention that they ruined the party for the locals, who were expected to take their fourth world title at home. The Swiss haven’t done this well in Soccer since they reached the Olympic Finals in Paris, 1924. The teams showed great respect for each other and the battle was balanced in the midfield as well as their defenses, which were well aware of potential offensive attacks. However, in...

Footballer Profile – John Terry

November 17, 2009
By

If ever a footballer played with his heart on his sleeve, that man is John Terry. I have no way of knowing the truth of the following story or otherwise but I wouldn’t be in the least surprised if it wasn’t true.   Apparently, John Terry has the ball that he so horribly miskicked from the penalty spot in the Champions League final against Manchester United two seasons ago sitting in his house so that he can see it every day. It must have been the worst moment of his career; and his genuine emotion was evident for everyone to...
