Liverpool let in another three goals as their latest pre-season friendly, against Valerenga ended in a 3-3 draw.

Liverpool failed to win for the third consecutive pre-season match after they were held to a 3-3 draw by Valerenga in Oslo.

It was an emotional occasion at the Ullevaal Stadium, just 10 days on from the horrific terrorist attacks which rocked Norway.

Before kick-off there was a poignant rendition of You’ll Never Walk Alone Pre Season Result Valerenga 3 3 Liverpool followed by a minute’s silence in memory of the 77 people killed.

“If one man can show so much hate, imagine how much love we all can show together,” read a message across the advertising hoardings.

Liverpool’s players and coaching staff each lay a rose behind the goal to a standing ovation from the packed national stadium.

The home side went into the lead just before the quarter hour mark when Lars Iver Strand picked the ball up in the middle of the park before finding the unmarked Havard Nielsen on the left wing, who then proceeded to play the ball back to the on-rushing midfielder who dispatched the ball beyond the helpless Pepe Reina and into the Liverpool net.

Liverpool have made a habit of giving cheap goals away in pre-season and they did it again just six minutes later.

Charlie Adam’s clumsy challenge upended Yssouf Kone in the box and Nigerian Fegor Ogude tucked away the spot-kick.

Just before half-time the visitors finally awoke from their slumber and got back into the game as Stewart Downing exchanged passes with Jordan Henderson after a short corner, then the former Aston Villa winger swung the ball onto the head of Andy Carroll, who bulleted his header beyond Lars Hirschfeld and into the Valerenga goal.

Liverpool started where they left off in the second half and Adam almost restored parity with a blistering 25-yarder which was deflected just wide.

Valerenga had a golden chance to put the game beyond any doubt as substitute Sidoine Oussou received the ball on the right wing, slipping the ball past Daniel Agger, but as the striker bore down on Reina’s goal, he could only hit the ball straight at the keeper.

That let-off sparked Liverpool into life with Carroll’s header well kept out by Hirschfeld.

The Reds continued to press and got their reward, with 10 minutes left the Norwegian keeper was called into action again as he was forced to stretch and palm an Alberto Aquilani strike from the edge of the area wide for a corner.

From the resulting corner kick Liverpool scored as Agger got his head onto the end of the corner and powered it into the net to put his side back on level terms.

Then with two minutes left Liverpool looked to have claimed victory from the exact same methods, as firstly Aquilani had a shot tipped away for a corner, and once again Agger got his head to the ball to score from close in.

An entertaining contest had one more goal left in it though, as substitute Mohammed Fellah scored from long range in injury time.

Liverpool will have just one more chance to claim victory before the new Premier League season, when they host Valencia on Saturday.
